Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak not accused in 1mdb probe

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak isn’t among those blamed for bad behavior in an examination by Switzerland’s main prosecutor into asserted defilement including the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) sovereign store, a Swiss authority said on Tuesday.

The Swiss Attorney General’s office said last Friday that it had distinguished four instances of claimed criminal offense in the associated misappropriation with about $4 billion from Malaysian state organizations.

Andre Marty, representative for the Office of Swiss Attorney General Michael Lauber, said in a messaged reaction to a Reuters question on Tuesday, “In the progressing criminal continuing of the OAG (Office of Attorney General), Mr. Najib Razak isn’t one of general society authorities under allegation.”

Lauber’s office reported last August that it had opened criminal procedures identified with 1MDB, whose warning board is led by Najib.

Toward the end of last week, Lauber’s office issued an announcement in which it said it had formally approached the Attorney General of Malaysia for help with Switzerland’s examination.
